Associate Creative Director in charge of character design, animation concepting and execution, motion capture and voice-over direction

Overview

Samsung streams sales-centric live shows on various platforms including Samsung.com. Different global markets have their own hosts and show format, but in the US, it's streamed from our studio inside Cheil Dallas.

Playing off the popularity of a leaked, Samsung-branded character design from Brazil (Sam), and seeing what other brands worldwide were doing with virtual influencer characters, Samsung Global asked us to create a Virtual Promoter for these various live streams. This involved extensive character design, casting talent to play the character in both vocal and motion capture performances, and a strategic brand playbook full of ready-to-use materials.

Broadcast Assets

Still renders and looping animations for incorporation into other markets' own graphics packages.

Product Ad Spots

During breaks between broadcast segments, CG-animated ads for various products starring our Virtual Promoter would air.

Live Appearances

Virtual Promoter could appear alongside live hosts via real-time 3D rendering and a live actor driving the performance.

Outcome

Unfortunately, the clients overseeing live commerce initiatives from Samsung HQ in Seoul, South Korea were forced to cancel the program due a different CG-animated character set to be released by the global brand team at roughly the same time: the alien called G-nusmas. Over the six months we worked on this, our staff and technical capabilities as a team grew enormously, and we deepened our relationship to Brazen, the animation studio we worked with to produce the cinema-grade 3D character model of our character.

While I can't publicly share the two nearly-completed ad spots or the final broadcast assets, I can provide a small highlight reel about this program upon request.
